Relax

Don't these spots look inviting....

Of course I angled the camera so you can't see the pile of boxes waiting to be burned. :)
Relaxing here is nice you can watch the chicken peck, listen to the rooster crow, see the goats doing the job of clearing the land.
The branch in the top picture fell over during Fay. We kept it because we love the arch it made.

B is for....

I was thinking of doing the whole alphabet for the farm but realized it would be a huge pain to come up with an x,y and z. We don't have Xenipirostris (genus of birds from Madagascar), yaks, or zebras. yet.

We are afraid of the bees so we haven't gotten any honey. I do see them all over my squash plants and I have at least 2 squash per plant so they are doing their job nicely. They have not stung anyone and if you go near their hive they don't get angry or anything. They are docile (for bees).

Keep praying for M. She still can't feel or move her lip.

Roslin the Goslin

Here she is! The most precious goose in the world. She is half Chinese and half African. She is a true American. She is the most protected gosling I have ever known. The other geese will go after our German Shepard dog to protect her and win. They also bite the Boss on the toe but they lost that battle.
The mother goose is still sitting on the nest. I think she is living in denial about the rest of the eggs being duds. I think this white goose is the dad but we have two other geese that we are not sure of the sex.
Tell my MIL that she is invited to spend the weekend in my MIL suite if she hasn't come up with a different plan.

Room cleaning

My husband has been cleaning my room for two days. Not that it was that messy but he, of course, had to clean out the closet and under the bed at the same time. He also had to clean out his desk. With his frequent breaks he is still working.
I say all this since my computer is in the bedroom I can't show you around the farm with out pictures of it.
I did get my MIL suite cleaned out. We ate dinner out there last night so we could eat in the air conditioning.
Our gosling was born yesterday so we have had even more increase.
Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to get back on track.

Day Trippin'

Sometimes us bumpkins leave the country and go into the big city.
The Jacksonville Zoo is a ton of fun and a ton of walking.
If you can't see it good I recommend clicking on this top picture.
We are so glad we got to go to the zoo with our far far away cousins.

The day before we went to the Gulf coast.
I am not driving my car anywhere for at least two weeks. OK well maybe sooner being we live 15 minutes away from EVERYTHING. I hope blogging on a Saturday makes up for not blogging Friday.

Compost 2

These squash plants were all planted on the same day. One with homemade compost, one with out. I am sure you can guess which is which.

Here is a side by side comparison. Always use compost.

Compost

We love composting around here. We have a lot of animals and not using all they offer is a waste. Our compost is mainly leaves(leaf mulch), egg shells, some vegetable peels, and manure. As you see in this top picture of a new pile.
This is what the finished product looks like. Soil.
Why I am telling you all this? You will have to wait all the way until tomorrow to find out.

Every Weekday in May (maybe)

Cheaper by the baker's dozen (see sidebar) is blogging every weekday in May. I am going to try to follow in her footsteps by giving it a try. My theme being Around the Farm in Twenty Days.

To start us off....Sisters. Can't a mom take a picture without bunny ears in it.
Every Saturday we have sabbath around here. A day of rest and relaxation. Spending 20 minutes blowing up the pool so the kids can rest and relax is neither relaxing or restful. But the rest of day wasn't bad at all.
Nothing like some summer fun to bring the joy back.
Have I mentioned yet I love the warm/hot weather we are currently in.

Just some pics

I love this picture of Moonbeam. Might be better without the bee tattoo or not. When Peace is older and asks how she spend her childhood, I am looking forward to telling her in the goat pen.
